SOG Only Think Spring Winners!

Thanks to everyone who played with our Some Odd Girl Only (means you must use a Some Odd Girl stamp to be eligible) Challenge of Think Spring! Your entries totally made me think of warmer days with the birds singing and the flowers starting to bloom! No frost to be seen! We've drawn the winner of the 4 SOG digis and the winner is...

I love Jeanette's style! Bright but with a vintage flair! Jeanette email me Kristy@someoddgirl.com to get your coupon code to go on a mini shopping spree! Our two favs were harder to pick, random.org certainly saves me the hardest job of picking a winner though lol! All the entries had something about them that I LOVED! But the two I picked were so purty each with different things I loved. First was Lisa who joined us with her FIRST SOG entry ever! Who doesn't like that?

Lisa put together a great color combo that flowed and just looks so cute! Her coloring was soft and worked well with her different elements. Thanks for joining us Lisa! Our second fav comes from the talented Ingrid who brought a soft vintage flair to her creation.

Vintage is something I personally CAN NOT pull off so when its done so seamlessly with fun pops of color and the beads around the edge I'm totally in love! Both Ingrid and Lisa, please email me Kristy@someoddgirl.com with your user name so I can add your 4 SOG Points for being Favs and get you your Fav's blinkie :)

Thanks so much for playing along and tomorrow will bring our next open challenge that I'm sure you'll love! Remember, using a SOG stamp on your entry will get you two names in the hat so its worth it to play along :)

Last off, if you haven't stopped by our Facebook page then you have totally missed the pictures of the new stamps that finally made it to my door! Clear Photopolymer in 6 designs each with their own sentiment. We are getting pics and everything ready to go live on the site but take a peek, its exciting times at Some Odd Girl!

Project Feature with GDT Lizzie Oakles

Today our March Guest Odd Girl has a special tutorial to share that totally crosses over! I'm going to let her take it over from here...

how to make embroidery patterns out of digi stamps
you will need:
hoop
thread
pen (reg or disappearing/water pen)
scissors
tape
fabric (what you will be putting your picture on)

pull up your picture on your computer screen and make it the size you would like your project to be then just tape your fabric to your monitor

take your pen and trace your design

now the fun part!  color in your image with your thread!  you can do back stitches or stain stitches or a combo of both like i did

now whatever will i use this cute lil bird for?  he's so sweet and adorable and i'm sure will bring me nothing but dreams of the same!

to see the rest of the tutorial head over to the bloggie where i'll show you how easy quilting can be!!!

Odd Girl Feature with Robin

Let's get to know another of our Odd Girls a bit better today, this post is all about Robin! Robin has been with Some Odd Girl since we gathered our first DT in February 2010 and I'm so glad she is still with us! We asked her the same questions as Kellie, let's see what she said...

We want to see your first PHOTOGRAPHED card! We've all got that first! Share!

what's changed the most since they began crafting?

My colouring skills have definitely improved by leaps and bounds.  And I also get more and more comfortable with putting cards together as I go along!
what drew you to Some Odd Girl?
I love the whimsical images - it's great that they have large and exaggerated features - great for colouring!

Any cardmaking idols?

There are TONS.  But some that stick out are: Mercy Kerin, Beate Johns, Silke Ledlow, and Betty Wright.
crafty goals for 2011?

I want to have a stress-free year, and just craft for the love of it! I would love to continue taking colouring classes and learning new things as well!

Personal craft do's and don'ts? what can you rawk and what is not so hawt for you?
I think I would recommend not trying to make things too complicated.  I think one of the hardest things is to stop at the right place because I always want to add more. But, I am better to stay with simple.

I think I am pretty good at colouring, but I always need help with my layouts.  That's when I turn to the web for inspiration...one of the do's is definitely to surf the net, and you can find almost anything you need!

what current paper trends do you HATE/LOVE?
I actually don't follow trends much - I have so much paper from over the years, that I am trying to use it all up!  I think that the right image and layout can make any set of papers look good!

Thanks so much for sharing with us Robin! Robin has a flair for making simple designs look so dramatic and gorgeous AND she's a Copic Certified Designer since March 2009. This girl simply has mad skills! Jump on over to her blog and say hi! He blog has a lot of great info and you will definitely be inspired by her creations!

Join us back here tomorrow for the Handmade Elements winner, get your entries in thru TONIGHT! Thursday we will have a new challenge and Saturday is Digi Day in our SNR Group! So plan on having an Odd Week!

Hurry Spring!

Spring officially beings here in a couple weeks, we're having more sunny days than cloudy ones lately and the mornings are lighter out (daylight savings will kill that one but we're enjoying it now!). Creatively we're all crawling out of our winter dens and into the light! So today I have two cards by Odd Girl Asa and Zarah to inspire you to think spring! (there might be a reason later this week to think spring ;) shhh)

Asa used some bright and cheery colors and fun Ice Cream Tia
for the spring feel

Zarah used light colors and florals for a different take on the same
feeling with Tweet

So what kinds of things are you seeing around or doing to Think Spring?

Some Odd Spotting!

Today I've got a fun card from Marie that shows you that almost any image can be used for the holidays :)

Not only does Marie use non-traditional holiday colors but that goes right along with the stamp! Well done Marie!
