BLING TIMES TWO (or more!)

Happy Thursday, fellow crafter and Odd Friends! We're so pleased you're here, and we hope you'll enjoy the FINAL CHALLENGE of 2010! It's been a big year for Some Odd Girl, and we can't believe how much it's grown since its inception! Here's to a fabulous 2011, and here's to good (odd) friends! :)

Thanks so much for playing around with our GIRLIE CHALLENGE - there were some AMAZING entries, and we wish we could give you ALL a little somethin'-somethin'! (Well, there is a big SALE going on right now, so does that count?!) But there can only be ONE winner, and that would be the lucky winner is the crafty chickadee who brought us THIS little treat:

Congrats, VIXYKINS! You get to choose two images from SomeOddGirl.com and email Kristy (Kristy@SomeOddGirl.com) with your choices. WOOT! Hope you love 'em as much as we do (but I promise it's going to be tough to choose your images!)...

And here are our two faves for this round...
this card:

belonging to HippieAud - CONGRATS! Love the colors and those fabby bows!

and this one:

created by Donna! Don't you just love that flower, and the adorable MUSHROOM border?! Too cute!

Ladies please send Kristy a message at Kristy@SomeOddGirl.com and she'll add your Loyalty Points to your accounts!

ANNNNNNND, a big thank you to everyone who hung out with the Odd Girls during last Saturday's DIGI DAY! We had a handful of players for our Early Bird Challenge, and we'd like to congratulate VAL, who gave us THIS little treat, using Deery, our December FREEBIE:

Val is the lucky randomly chosen winner of THREE Some Odd Girl digis of her choice! Congratulations, Val! Please send Kristy an email at Kristy@SomeOddGirl.com with your three choices from the store, and we hope to see you again soon! :)

The holidays always scream shiny-sparkly to me so let's see it on your project!

We want a MINIMUM of two different TYPES of bling on your creations! This can be anything from shimmer spray to glitter to stickles to rhinestones to glittery card to foil to shiny thread to twinkling h20s... The choice is yours, and we're sure you're going to rock it! Just like our Odd Girls did:

Our first ever Guest Odd Girl Corry used tons of yummy pearls and rhinestones with this fabby card featuring Deer Mae

Cassandra blinged just about everything on this Birthday Tia card (keep your eyes peeled and maybe this past FREEBIE will make another appearance!) - the frame, the stamped panel, the hat, and even the alphas! Now that's what I'm talkin' about! :)

Yvonne's little Content Ollie card is just SO happy!
The bling factor here just adds to the mood:

Kimmy used some glitter glue, glimmer mist and adhesive rhinestones to emphasize
the chilly surrounding for our Penguin Friends

Robin McK brought the bling with some Shimmerz, Glimmer Mist, glittery paper and rhinestones - I'd say she nailed it with this cute Snowman card!

And Kristy gave the whole thing a yummy shimmer and a
healthy dose of rhinestones with Smell the Flowers Tia

So how's all THAT for inspiration?! We can't wait to see your blinged up projects - be sure they're NEWLY CREATED for our challenge, you MUST link back here in your post, and link up no later than Wednesday, December 29th at midnight EST for your chance to win THREE free digis from SomeOddGirl.com OR to be chosen as one of our faves, you'll rack up some additional Loyalty Points! Don't forget - you don't HAVE to use Some Odd Girl images, but if you do, you get an extra entry into the draw. OH, and since we always have a FREEBIE available, we make it REALLY easy for you!

Have fun, happy craftin', and STAY ODD!

Getting to know our first Guest Odd Girl!

We are so happy to have Corry with us for December as our first ever Guest Odd Girl! She's been a big SOGgy supporter and such a creative talent! To get to know her a lil better we've asked her a few questions and want to open it up to YOU to ask her some more. Here's how Corry answered our odd questions:

1) What color do feel represents your personality and why?
My fave color is brown. Does this represent my personality?.....perhaps......I'm a country girl at heart, grew up on a farm, small town living. Everything was made of wood in our house, even my dad became a wood worker of sorts---building furniture & painting them brown. Perhaps it grew on me. To this day, I am drawn to brown shades, however have been told I look good in yellow! lol

2) Is your style of dress/ home decor similar to your style of card making?
Yes, it's kinda all over the place, like my cards. I am not usually a clean cut, mod type person. I tend to change things up in my life ALL the time. Hubby hates when he comes home and the living room is changed around AGAIN. haha. I like to add lotsa embellies to my cards, which also resembles my home decor of a 'whole lot going on'....not just one style; but dress/clothes wise, I am as plain as they come. Sweats & a T !! That's me!

3) What one thing always puts you in a good mood?
Grocery shopping. Sounds corny I know (especially lugging 3 kids for the 1.5 hr ride to the big city-better deals).... but spending a whole wack of money on groceries & just knowing that for the next month we have enough food to make some healthy meals, makes me happy. Means hubby & I are providing well for our family.

4) What SOG character do you most identify with and why?
Ice Cream Tia. I haven't made a card with her yet, waiting for summer, you know. Cuz when I was growing up I always had a small vanilla cone dipped in chocolate almost every day after school. Then we I was old enough to get a job, one of my first places of employment was at that SAME ice cream store. MMMmmmmmmmm I love my ice cream!

5) Are you just a cardmaker or do you dabble in other crafts?
I also do scrapbooking. Tradtional & digital, but this has kinda fell at the wasteside since finding blogland. To give you an idea, one of my last scrapbooking pages was when my 3 yr old was 9 months! YA! Pretty bad.

6)Where do you find your inspiration?
I dunno, really. It just comes. I am not an artistic person by any means, but seeing all the lovely creations in blogland really gets me inspired to improve, to try a different style, to try a different color combo, to make something other than a card. I have had the privilege to be on some DT's with some amazingly talented ladies who inspire me daily with their kind words & fresh creations!!! (mwah) Also, when you have a good image to work with (like SOG digis), the inspiration just falls into place. ACTUALLY, I was thinking the other day, that it was the first SOG blog hop (was it a hop? where each SOG DT member shared a tip) that intrigued me to improve on my coloring & purchase some copics for skin & hair tones. I will never forget the feedback all the ladies gave me when I commented on their creations. I remember jumping back to that hop when I wondered what color copic I should use next!!! Pretty cool hey?!

So what would YOU like to know? Corry will be answering questions here in the comments :) She has also made a fabby project to showcase her talents!

Don't you just LOVE her pleated ribbon and super coloring of Tobie? We are happy to have her this month!

Now... a new challenge for you, and hopefully we'll see lots more fabulous submissions, because we certainly have some pretties to inspire! Are you ready? Let's see you.....

MAKE IT UBER-GIRLIE!
Whatever it takes to scream "THIS CARD IS FOR A GIRL!"... Lots of pinks and purples, maybe? Frills, lace, ribbons, flowers and bling? Butterflies and faeries? A shopping theme, perhaps? It's up to you!

Let's see what the Odd Girls have done....

First, a big welcome to CORRY, our wonderful Guest Oddie for the month of December! A lil about Cor
"My name is Corry Smyrski. I am a happily married mother of 3 & am currently on maternity leave from my part time Nursing job. I started blogging in 2009 (i think- lol) after beginning my crafting addiction in 2005. Started with scrapbooking, then SU stamps, then CTMH stamps, NOW digital stamps! I just love being creative & bringing a smile to the faces of those I create cards for! I am super excited to be the December GDT here at Some Odd Girl! Truth be told, I am kinda ODD myself. "
She gives us our first creation for today's challenge, using Dancin Kaylee...
(I don't know about you, but as a girl, I am ALWAYS singin'
a happy little tune in my head, and I love to dance!)

Then we have something uber-cutesy from Yvonne:
(LOVE that little hair flower and the pearls, and check out Bookworm Tia's eyeshadow!
NOTE: All Tia images are currently 20% off!)

Robin F went for a girlie color scheme, and the kitty, the sequins and the big pink bow just OOZE girlie! She used the adorable Chilly Kitten, who happens to be in the 99 cent bin right now!!

Our Odd Girl Marcie prettied this one all up with some GORGEOUS florals and lots of pink, with some pearly, swirly goodness - the original Tiny Tia is perfect for this one!

Tanya gave us a special treat with her adorable Cold Kaylee bookmark -
aren't the soft pastels and lace just PERFECT?!

and our fearless leader, the brains behind this whole outfit, Kristy - she used Fairy Fly Away Mae for this card that's just FILLED with chickie elements - the butterfly, the fae, the bling, the pinky polka dotty paper, the floral print...

So that's your cue, crafty friends! Create something that is very OBVIOUSLY for a girl, and link up your NEWLY-CREATED project below, while also linking back to us in your blog post. You have until Wednesday, December 15th at midnight EST to play along, and you could win 2 free digis from the store, or Some Odd Girl loyalty points to earn your freebies! Have fun, and stay Odd! :D

Along with the fun we are having hoppin along today I've got some other fun things for you.

First I'd like to introduce you to our first Guest Odd Girl Corry Smyrski! Corry has taken part in alot of our challenges and Digi Day and we dig her style! Welcome to the Odd Girls for December! She will be participating in our challenges and I will be posting a fun feature about her too! Corry is also getting some fun digis to play with as a Guest Odd Girl! You will be hopping to her blog today so don't forget to give her a big CONGRATS!

Next on our list, our free Ecards are now LIVE! Handcoded by my hubby (gotta give him props, it wasn't easy!), we have 3 fun Ecards that you can customize and send along to your friends! Also, if you like the images you see, just hop on over to the shop and pick up either the uncolored version(s) or fully colored version(s) for super easy Christmas card making!

Next I'd like to announce a fun little contest that you can play along with now thru January 16th.

I've gotten alot of email from people who love the Tinies because Tia looks like their daughter, niece or granddaughter and Tobie looks like thier son, nephew or grandson. LOVE IT! So my ever thinking hubby says "you should have a contest where people color a Tia or a Tobie and use it on a card to look like their child and have them post a picture to show the likeness." Of course I was all over the idea! So that's what we are going to do. To be eligible you need to create a card/project using Tobie or Tia colored up to look like your lil one. In your blog post entry, you must have a pic of your lil one to compare. Then just link it up in the contest post for all of us to OOOOO and AWWWWW over :) Don't forget to grab our blinkie too! Here is an example of what we're looking for...

Your project and a comparison either in one piccy or side-by-side. That is my Tiny man Kenton holding his super Tobie card. He did ask me "why is he wearing his panties on top of his pants?" Awkward that lol. Anyways, show us your Tinies and during our Anniversary Celebration week (January 16th - 22nd) we will announce the winner with a fun prize! Join our My Tiny contest and have FUN!

Last fun bit for you, we are announcing our next DT Call. Our sweet Odd Girls' term in ending at the end of January :( So I'd like to invite everyone to apply, for all the deets please click HERE. The call will run thru January 14th and the new team will be announced February 1st. Check it out and spread the Odd Word!

Are you still here? Get to hoppin! Kimmy is your first stop!

just so our hoppers know, only our Odd Girls are not eligible to win the prizes along the way :)

Style Challenge #9 - Window Cards!

We're in the middle of the holiday season and I've hopped to quite a few blogs and found them all decking their halls with such creativity! And all the challenges entered in for our background challenge were no exception! We had a total of 19 good entries for our last one and the winner is...

Congrats Beth! Email me Kristy@someoddgirl.com to get your goodies!

Our two favs this go had some great creativity with the background challenge. First off is Diana who took the frog from Tobie and Buddie for her background and paired it up with Tiny Princess Tia for a super fun cards!

Our next fav also had fun with their background and made it super yummy by pairing up Cherry Sprinkles (one of our past freebies) with Baker Kaylee for this card Sally made for a co-worker

Congrats to our favs! Email me for your points and new fav blinkie :)

Our next challenge is one you're going to want to see thru to the very end! HA! I crack me up... Our challenge this time is a Window Card or at least we need to be able to see the interior of your card from the exterior. How you preform that feat is up to you! Here's how our Odd girls pulled it off:

Cassandra used Santa on this fabby card!

Robin used Snowman to make a chilly card to warm you heart!

Kimmy also used Snowman and took the "window" literally

Robin Mc used Cold Kitty Tia for a warm wintery creation

and Leah also made an inviting look inside her card with Hang Out Ollie

So give us a window in your world by making us a Window Card! Remember, if you use an Some Odd Girl Digi in your creation you get 2 entires in to our draw to win 2 digis of your choice from our shop! You have thru December (oh my, already?) 1st at midnight EST to get your creation linked up!

Another incentive to play along, we are on the look out for our first ever Guest Odd Girl! We are looking at anyone who uses a Some Odd Girl image in the month of November so it could be YOU! And you could kill two bird with one stone by linking you Some Odd Girl creation on our Facebook wall for an entry in to our Facebook contest! We take care of our Oddies!

Good luck and have FUN!

ps. We are having a Hol-ODD-day Hop that you are invited to join in!  See HERE for all the deets!

Winner by Random Draw is Sarah!

Sarah, email me at Kristy@someoddgirl.com for your special prize!

Digi Day is this Saturday November 13 and the Odd Girls will be on hand throwing down the challenges and playing some games in our SNR and PCP groups from 10am-2pm EST. But this go we wanted to kick things off a touch early for those that are weekend warriors and might not get a chance to play OR just another chance for those dedicated peeps who make it a point of pride to dabble in them all :) This challenge is open for both groups (so one entry each please) and anyone else who would like to play along. Also this challenge is a stand alone and doesn't count toward digi day points totals but has its own prize :)

For this challenge I'd like to see cards with DIMENSION. At least 2 things that are lifted up or stand tall. Simple layers do not count. Check out my example...

My card here has 3: the sentiment, the image is pop dotted up and the ball trim.

So link your entry up in the inlinkz below (from your blog or one of our groups) for your chance to win!

We are going to offer free E-Cards, a few new digis and already colored printables for fast holiday card making! Style Challenge #9 - Backgrounds

Welcome to November ODD-friends....only one more month to go before we start cleaning the chimney's, right? Ok ok - let's not get too carried away so soon and let's reminisce a little bit about Halloween and the SUPERB entries we have received for our {{ last challenge }}. They were spooktacular!

You all rocked the colour challenge and created 39 entries for our virtual hat. The random generator decided on our overall winner is:
SUSAN!!!!
What a wonderful digi card - it is so real I had to do a double-take to realise it is completely digi

Congratulations to you - please email Kristy(at)Someoddgirl(dot)com to claim your prize.

There were so many amazing entries that it was really difficult to make a decision on our top two. The first winner of some loyalt points is
I just love the apples, the paint and her sweet coloring!

And the other lucky crafter who can claim some loyalty points is:

How can you not fall in love with these wonderful projects

Please email Kristy(at)Someoddgirl(dot)com to get your points added to your shopping account.

Are you all ready for the new challenge? Good, because we have a cracking one for you:

For our first challenge in November we would like to see everyone getting creative with their digis by using them to create a background. You can either just use one of the sentiments over and over again, or repeat an image on a piece of plain cardstock (or paper).

Used Chilly Penguin (from our upcoming release) to create the background AND made him the focal point as well.

How clever to use the Hey Cupcake sentiments as a background to really make your message stand out.

How very Andy Warhol to use the smaller images printed onto different coloured pieces of paper. Love the combination of School Girl Tia, Tiny Tia, Daisy Tia and Bookworm Tia

How fun is this card/tag set - combining Sunny Rays, Fluffy Love and Happy Birthday. Delicious!

Also made use of the Happy Birthday sentiment and filled the outline with some colour to add depth.

Odd Girl herself Kristy used Sheepy for this sweet baby card that would make a momma proud!

So, what do you say - are you going to accept our mission? We cannot wait to see what you all create and hopefully share with us. Enter by directly linking up your NEWLY CREATED PROJECTS no later than Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at midnight EST, and be sure to link back to our blog for your chance to win two free digis of your choice from SomeOddGirl.com! As you know, you get one entry in the (virtual) hat for each card you enter and another entry if you use one of our images.

Good luck and have fun!!!

And we have another fun thing for you to think about, Some Odd Girl is going to be looking for Guest Oddies. We will be choosing some lucky peeps from around the internet who impress us to come take part in the Odd Festivities. What better way to get our attention than to show us what you've got by getting in on this challenge? Our Guest Oddie will get some freebies and some other fun TBA. Good Luck to everyone!
